KATHUA, Feb 1: The death toll in Barwal Morh road accident increased to two after another student succumbed to his injuries at Ludhiana hospital in Punjab today.
The deceased was identified as Nitish Kumar, resident of Nihalpur, Kathua and a student of DS Heritage School Barwal Morh. He was shifted to Ludhiana hospital in a critical condition. He was on ventilator as his condition was critical but he did not recover despite best efforts of doctors.
His body was brought to Kathua and as the news of his death spread a pal of gloom descended in his home locality and people were in shock and grief with tears yelling from their eyes. Everyone in the area including the students of the school was praying for his wellness but cruel hands of death did not spare him at last.
The car accident took place on January 30 in which one girl was killed on spot and ten school children were injured. The students of DS Heritage School, Barwal Morh, Kathua were waiting for bus outside the school on Highway.
A speedy car bearing number, PB08CW/8368 was on its way from Punjab towards Jammu. It hit children near DS Heritage School, Barwal Morh on National Highway resulting in death of one girl student and injuries to ten children. The deceased girl was identified as Bumika Hans, daughter of Ashok Kumar Hans of Nihalpur Palli Morh.
Meanwhile a girl was today injured when a car hit her scooty near GMC Kathua. She was immediately shifted to District Hospital Kathua and her condition is stated to be stable. She was identified as Riya Sharma , 21, daughter of Hakum Chand of Khorate. She was traveling on a scooty bearing Registration Number JK08D9558 when she was hit by a car bearing registration number HP 21 C0730. Police has registered a case in this regard.
