ANTF arrests driver, associate with 6000 banned syrup bottles

JAMMU, May 25: Anti Narcotic Task Force (ANTF) arrested a driver and his associate along with 6000 bottles of banned syrup bottles.
According to SP ANTF Vinay Sharma, on specific information that a truck is coming from New Delhi to Jammu with consignment of drugs, the sleuths of ANTF laid nakas at various places.
The sleuths of ANTF intercepted the truck bearing registration number PB08CP-5896 and on thorough search recovered 6000 bottles of banned syrup bottles packed in 50 boxes, SP added.
He said that truck driver Karan Kumar, son of Balram Kumar of Balachor Punjab and his associate identified as Yashpal, son of Charan Dass of Village Karawar, Balachor Distt Nawasher, Punjab were arrested on the spot.
A case under relevant sections of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered, SP said, adding that this was the one of the biggest seizure of such drugs in JK UT in recent times.
“ANTF is investigating further details of this inter-state drug racket including the forward and backward linkages of these drug smugglers. More arrests are also expected in near future”, SP Vinay Sharma said and appealed to the general public to share more such information of drug dealers so that this menace is uprooted from the society.
