ANTF nabs 2 smugglers with huge quantity of poppy straw

JAMMU, Dec 2: Anti Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) of Jammu and Kashmir Police, a specialized unit to check rising menace of drugs, achieved another success today after it foiled a bid to smuggle huge quantity of poppy straw worth lakhs of rupees.
A spokesman of ANTF said that they received specific information that one truck bearing registration number JK13E-6122 has come from Kashmir Valley and presently parked behind Nehru Market Jammu in which a large quantity of poppy straw has been concealed by driver Arif Ahmed son of Farooq Ahmad, resident of Village Rajpura (Pulwama) along with co-driver Aijaz Ahmad Ahanger son of Abdul Ahad Ahanger, resident of Qaziqund, Anantnag.
He said accordingly, a case FIR Number 19/2022 u/s 8/15/29 NDPS Act was registered at Police Station ANTF Jammu and the ANTF team immediately swung into action, raided the place and found the truck parked behind Nehru market near old RTO office Jammu.
“During search, 885.55 kilograms of poppy straw concealed in the truck was recovered by the ANTF team,” the spokesman said, adding, the driver along with the co-driver was arrested in the instant case and truck was seized.
He said that ANTF is investigating further links and more arrests are expected in the case. The operation was conducted under the supervision of SSP ANTF Vinay Sharma.
