ANTF nabs drug peddler with heroin

SRINAGAR, Apr 4: The Anti Narcotic Task Force (ANTF)–a specialized unit of Jammu and Kashmir Police to check rising menace of drugs, achieved another success after it foiled a bid to smuggle heroin.
According to SSP ANTF Vinay Sharma, ANTF Kashmir received specific information that a person namely Abdul Qyoom Mir, son of Azmatullaha Mir of Sultan Daki Uri District Baramulla is carrying heroin in vehicle EON bearing registration number JK01S-1701.
“On this information, a case under FIR Number 17/2022 under Section 8/21 NDPS Act was registered. ANTF team immediately swung into action and apprehended the said person from Sonawar near GP Panth Hospital Srinagar. During his personal search, the ANTF team recovered 200 grams heroin like substance from his possession”, SSP said, adding that the vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.
Anti Narcotics Task Force is investigating further links and more arrests are expected, SSP asserted.
