ANTF nabs two with 97.9 Kg poppy straw

JAMMU, Mar 23: The Anti Narcotic Task Force (ANTF) of Jammu and Kashmir police today nabbed two drug peddlers with around one quintal of poppy straw.
Acting on specific information that a truck bearing registration number JK02BP-5135 driven by Anwar Hussain Shah son of Altaf Hussain Shah of Didasen (Thannamandi, Rajouri) along with co-driver Mohd Iqbal son of Sala Mohammad of Khawas Rajouri, from Kashmir to outside J&K via Jammu, is illegally carrying a large quantity of Poppy straw, a case FIR Number 03/2022 u/s 8/15/29 NDPS Act was registered at Police Station ANTF Jammu.
Accordingly, the ANTF team swung into action and laid naka at NHW-44 near Environmental Park Sidhra on Narwal-Bye Pass Road, Jammu. As soon as the Truck was spotted, the team stopped it and during its search, recovered 97.9 Kg of Poppy straw which was concealed in the vehicle.
The driver along with the co-driver was arrested and truck was also seized by the Anti Narcotics Task Force, which was investigating further links. As per a spokesperson of ANTF, more arrests are expected.
The operation was conducted under the supervision of SSP ANTF, Vinay Sharma.
