JAMMU, Sept 4: In a concerted effort to combat drug abuse under the Union Government’s “Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan,” the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) Jammu has made significant strides in curbing the narcotics trade in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
Over the past three months, ANTF Jammu has successfully seized a substantial quantity of narcotics and psychotropic substances.
Notably, on August 27, 2023, Inspector Vikas Hans oversaw the seizure of 6.972 grams of Charas in Jammu, unveiling a new interstate smuggling operation currently under investigation.
Deputy Superintendent Shamsher Singh and SSP ANTF J&K, Raj Kumar, provided crucial supervision during this operation.
Since taking office on May 29, 2023, SSP Raj Kumar has been at the forefront of various operations aligned with the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan.
These operations have resulted in the recovery and seizure of significant quantities of narcotics and psychotropic substances across 11 cases in the past three months. The seizures include 22.985 kg of Charas, 236.922 kg of Poppy Straw, 200 bottles of Codeine Cough Syrup, 216 Spasmo Proxyvon Capsules, and 900 Alprazolam Capsules.
These targeted operations have exposed interstate smuggling networks, leading to the arrest of 16 individuals from regions including Punjab, West Bengal, Delhi, Gujarat, Mumbai, and Jammu and Kashmir, with two women among them.
Recent raids conducted in Jammu, Punjab, Kashmir, and Delhi have also resulted in the capture of six hardened narcotics drug suppliers, each implicated in multiple cases registered with ANTF Jammu & Kashmir.
Meanwhile, the ANTF J&K earnestly appealed to the general public and youth in particular to distance themselves from drugs and encouraged them to report any information regarding contraband smugglers and peddlers to ANTF, assuring complete confidentiality for informers.
