SRINAGAR, Jan 17: Anti-Corruption Bureau Kashmir has booked then Tehsildar North, Srinagar, Mohd Bashir for inducing public to seek mutation of their land on the basis of oral gift thus avoiding stamp duties and subsequently causing revenue loss worth crores of rupees to the State exchequer.
The accused, in conspiracy with others have attested (1292) number of mutations on the basis of oral gifts in respect of land measuring 1787 Kanals 07 Marlas during his tenure in 2011-12 in his jurisdiction as Tehsildar North Srinagar. Thus succeed in conferment of huge pecuniary advantage upon the parties as well as himself and subsequently loss amounting to Rs 18,87,73,485.50/- to the State exchequer which was otherwise to be paid as stamp duty by the parties at the time of registration/execution of sale deeds.
Therefore, the facts disclosed during probe constitute commission of offence by Mohammad Bashir Rather and others U/S 5(1) (d) r/w 5(2) J&K PC Act, Svt 2006 r/w 120-B RPC and accordingly FIR No.02/2019 was registered in P/S ACB Kashmir. Further investigation is on.
