JAMMU, May 3: The Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) in its campaign against the encroachers and illegal hawkers today seized 16 rehries that too without licences from the areas of Indira Chowk, KC Chowk and Maheshpura Chowk which were found stationary causing obstructions in the free flow of vehicular traffic and hindrance to the pedestrians.
Besides this, about 30 vendors / hawkers were also removed who were selling goods by encroaching upon footpaths and pavements in these areas. Four loaded trucks of goods were also seized during the drive and were impounded in the Municipal Yard.
The drive was led by Kapil Sharma Joint Commissioner (Adm) along with Assistant Commissioner (Revenue), Chief Enforcement Officers, Enforcement Officers and Enforcement Inspectors of JMC.
The drive has been conducted with the help and assistance of police force from District Police Lines, Jammu.
The JMC has advised the shopkeepers to keep their goods within their shops / establishments to avoid seizure of these goods and penalty for such defaults. The rehries owners are also asked to keep their rehries mobile as the stationary rehries are source of obstruction for the free flow of vehicular traffic and also cause inconvenience to the pedestrians.
