JAMMU, May 26: On the instructions of Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC). M. Raju, the officers and officials of JMC continued its drive against illegal rehries/pharies/hoardings and encroachers causing traffic congestion and obstructing free movement of pedestrians on footpaths. The drive was conducted under the supervision of Joint Commissioner (A), JMC R.S. Jamwal and Assistant Commissioner (Rev.) JMC Mrs. Vinakshi Koul Sharma. During the drive Chief Enforcement Officer, Rajesh Gupta, Enforcement Officer, Kamini Kesar, Revenue officers, Parmod Kumar, Ashwani Sudan, Parveen Gupta and Sunil Gupta of JMC, Police force of the concerned Police Stations & other Enforcement staff of JMC also accompanied the drive.
The drive was conducted in the areas of Indira Chowk, Shalamar road, B.C. road, Gumat, Gurdwara Sunder Singh road, Gandhi Nagar, Shastri Nagar, Jewel and Narwal area etc.
During the drive the team of JMC removed encroachments and cleared the footpaths and pavements. The team seized about 30 illegal rehries plying without license from these areas and seized five trucks of material displayed by the shopkeepers in front of their shops and footpaths causing traffic congestion and free flow of pedestrians. The team also removed illegal hoardings from these areas.
The JMC authorities have appealed to the shopkeepers to keep their goods within their establishments to avoid penal action against them and vendors to ply their rehries only in the rehari zone and specified areas by JMC.
