POONCH, July 31: Municipal Committee today conducted an anti-encroachment drive at Surankote main market in Poonch district to remove the encroachment especially on foot-paths.
Official sources said that footpaths have been encroached by the carts and wheel carts due to which people are compelled to walk on the road, resulting traffic jam in main market, Surankote.
Keeping in view this problem, Municipal Committee team today conducts inspection and anti-encroachment drive to address the issue, removed some encroachments and asked many to remove themselves.
Pertinent to mention here that many locals raised the questions on Municipal Committee authorities and alleged that these Rehdi’s are being allowed by the MC officials themselves. They also raised the finger on the poor sanitary conditions in the town. .
Executive officer, Surankote Municipality, Mohd Maqbool when contacted said that MC allows the wheel cart or Rehdi to move in the town but not to stay at one place or block the footpaths which creates many other problems. Traffic jam is the major concern in the town so we have asked all the cart owners to remove encroachment from foot paths.
