Anti encroachment drive of Govt just show off to harass poor: Advocate Appu Singh

JAMMU, Jan 30: Coming heavily on Jammu and Kashmir administration for its much publicized drive against encroachment of state land and retrieval of lands from illegal encroachment, State spokesperson of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Appu Singh today said that this move of the Government is just a show off to harass poor people and all attempts are being made to shield BJP leaders who are encroachers of large tracts of State land in the Union Territory.
Demanding resignation of Col Mahan Singh (DDC Chairman of Kathua) for being an encroacher of the State land, she said that Government has violated a series of directions of High Court dated 9th of October 2020 in IA Number 48/2014 in PIL Number 19/2011. She added that the names of high profile and influential encroachers have been put under the carpet and only around thirty names have been shared on public platform to divert the attention of people.
“Furthermore, these names, from various political parties have been languishing in the corridors of various social media sites since 9th of October 2020. Perhaps, it’s a pity that no names of the leaders of the BJP have been put out in public domain as encroachers, despite of the various RTI applications vividly mentioning their names as encroachers,” she said while addressing a press conference.
She said as last date for removal of encroachment is on Tuesday (31st January), the UT administration should share a data on white paper regarding total land retrieved from illegal encroachers since the circular was issued,” she said.  She highlighted the various directions of the High Court meticulously given in order dated: 9th October 2020 and stated that no large tracts of State Land vested under the Roshni Act 2001 and those under encroachment have been retrieved by the authorities.
Appu Singh said that AAP will always stand against all such dictatorial orders of Government and will keep raising the voice of common masses.
