SRINAGAR, Sept 20: In order give a push to the vaccination campaign in the flood affected areas of Kashmir valley, a meeting was today held at the control room of Medical & Health Education Department where a detailed strategy was chalked out to administer Oral Polio vaccine and Vitamin A along with anti measles vaccine in the flood affected areas. The campaign would focus on children in the age group of 6 months to 5 years and would pick up from tomorrow.
The meeting was presided over by Pradip Haldar, Deputy Commissioner, Immunization, Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and was attended by all the District Immunization Officers and Deputy CMOs besides heads of several wings of the Health Department.
The campaign will also cover the rest of the areas as it progresses. Against a requirement of 13 lakh vaccines, the department currently has a stock of 6 lakh vaccines and rest are on their way to Srinagar.
Minister for Health & Medical Education, Taj Mohi-ud-Din, who is personally monitoring the resumption of health services in the Valley, directed the Department to undertake anti measles vaccination in the flood hit areas on war footing.
The Minister who is in constant touch with the Health authorities in Delhi has directed the health authorities to push in more and more vaccination teams in the camps where people from flood affected areas have been kept.
