RAMBAN, July 7: In continuation of its drive against use of banned polythene carry bags (below 50 microns) and single use plastic, a team of PCB Ramban led by Anupam Kaul, Divisional Officer, PCB Ramban, conducted an anti-polythene drive with the assistance of local police at main bazaar of Batote.
During the drive, around 42.6 kg of banned polythene carry bags (less than 50 microns) and 0.4 kg of single use plastic was seized. In exercise of powers under SRO-243 of 2011 and rules on the subject, the PCB team compounded the erring shopkeepers and realized an amount of Rs 5000 as fine from them.
The drive was conducted on the directions of Chairman, JKPCB Suresh Chugh and Member Secretary, J&K Pollution Control Board, BM Sharma.
