JAMMU, Mar 18: In connection with Anti-Tobacco Campaign, an awareness workshop was organized at Sub District Hospital, Akhnoor.
The workshop was organized by Dr BS Pathania, Director, Health Services, Jammu. Dr Robinder Khajuria, Chief Medical Officer, Jammu and Dr Vinod Kumar, Block Medical Officer (BMO), Akhnoor, were also present.
MLA Akhnoor, Rajeev Sharma, was the chief guest on the occasion while Jeevan Sharma, 1st Class Magistrate, Akhnoor, was the guest of honour.
The workshop started early morning with the poster presentation giving information about adverse effects of smoking. About 40 students participated in the poster presentation, whose winner was Madhu from Army Public School, Akhnoor.
A debate competition was also held during the workshop and Kajal Sharma from Government Higher Secondary School, Nardiwala, emerging winner.
Experts including Dr Rakesh Verma (Consultant Physcian), Dr Vinod Dhar (Psychiatrist) and Dr Rohit Kohli (Consultant Dentistry), spoke on the occasion and awared the general public about the side effects of smoking.
Ajeet Singh, Assistant Commissioner, Food Safety (Drug & Food Organization) also shared his views regarding implementation of Anti-Smoking Campaign in district Jammu.
Dr NC Prabhakar, Resource person for International Union against TB, Liason Officer for Voluntary Health Association, speaking on the occasion, gave the overall view of the problem of smoking in the country as well as in the world and also shared his personal views with the audience.
The workshop concluded with vote of thanks by Dr Vinod Kumar, BMO Akhnoor.
