JAMMU, Aug 25: The SPIC MACAY J&K in collaboration with the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu organized a ceremony to flag-off Antar Yatra (an inner journey) by Dr Kiran Seth (founder of SPIC MACAY) from Jammu to Kanyakumari.
Those present in the flag-off ceremony were Dr Daud Iqbal Baba (Director, Directorate of Sports and Physical Education), Dr Sapna Sangra (Incharge, SPIC MACAY Jammu Chapter), Dr Seema Rohmetra, Deep Khare (Principal Jodhamal Public School) and cyclist group “Women do Ride” led by Payal.
While speaking on the occasion, Dr Kiran Seth emphasizes that SPIC MACAY’s intention is to enrich the quality of formal education by increasing awareness about different aspects of Indian heritage and inspiring the young mind to imbibe the values embedded in it.
He said SPIC MACAY seeks to inspire youth through experiencing the mysticism embodied in the rich and heterogeneous cultural tapestry of Indian and World Heritage, with a hope that the beauty, grace, values, and wisdom embodied in these arts will influence their way of life and thinking and inspire one to become a better human being. “For this, the most accomplished artists of the country render programs of Indian classical music and dance, folk, poetry, theatre, traditional paintings, crafts & yoga,” he added.
Dr Daud while introducing said that SPIC MACAY seeks to conserve and promote an awareness of the rich and heterogeneous cultural tapestry amongst the youth of our country through a focus on classical arts, with their attendant legends and philosophy, and to facilitate an awareness of their deeper and subtler values.
Vimal Kishore, Raj Kumar Bakshi, Gagan Kumar, Sanjeev Sharma, Tarvinderpal Singh, Harinderpal Singh, Sanjeev Panday and students of the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education were also present on the occasion.
Meanwhile, Pt Prem Nath Dogra Government Degree College, Samba hosted a function in the honour of Dr Kiran Seth, who was accompanied by Dr Sapna Sangra, Chairperson, SPIC MACAY J&K. Earlier, the faculty members and the enthused students of the College accompanied him for a cycling spree from Chichi Mata to the College Campus. Dr Surinder Sharma, the Principal of the college along with the students and faculty members formally welcomed Dr Kiran.
