Anushthan 2014 concludes at Kathua Campus

KATHUA, Nov 13: Anushthan 2014, two-day Inter-college Cultural Fest under the theme ‘Celebrating Culture and Festivity’, organized by Kathua Campus, University of Jammu, concluded today with a glittering closing ceremony.
Prof S K Jain, Vice Chancellor, SMVDU, Katra was the chief guest on the occasion while Ashok Bhan, Chairman, IIPA, J&K Regional Branch, Jammu was the guest-of-honour. Prof Neelu Rohmetra, Rector Kathua Campus, presided over the function.
Prof S K Jain spoke about the rich heritage and culture of India imbibing unity in diversity. He also emphasized upon the importance of cultural activities in the overall development of students in institutions of higher education and learning.
Ashok Bhan appreciated the efforts at Kathua Campus and hoped that it shall further energize itself and become more vibrant in providing quality education and sporting and cultural environment at the door steps of the youth in this region.
Prof Neelu Rohmetra said that successful culmination of Cultural Fest “Anushthan 2014” has indeed enthused new hope and added to the spirit of amity and companionship. She also hoped that the event met the expectations and proved useful in promoting the tradition of art, drama, music and the dance.
Around 300 students belonging to various Government and Private Colleges of Kathua District affiliated to University of Jammu participated in the eight different event categories during the two days.
In Solo Singing category Manjinder Kour from Kathua Campus, Nidhi Sharma from Rajiv Gandhi College and Ritu Sharma from Lal Bahadur Shastri College got first, second and third prizes respectively. In Group Song first prize was bagged by R S College of Education, while Thakur Dharam Singh and Surya College of Education got second and third prizes respectively. In Skit competition, Rajiv Gandhi College of Education got first prize, while New Age college of Education and Thakur Dharam Singh College of Education got second and third prize respectively. In painting event, first prize was bagged by Aruna Rani of Lal Bahadur Shastri College of Education while Swati Sharma of Guru Teg Bahadur and Pratibha Jasrotia of Rajiv Gandhi College of Education got the second and third prize. In event Rangoli, first, second and third prizes were won by of Lal Bahadur Shastri College of Education, Government Degree College for Women, Kathua and Kathua Campus, University of Jammu respectively. In Collage making, Amit Kumar and Sunny Kumar of Rajiv Gandhi College of Education, Ankush and Rohit Raina of Kathua Campus of University of Jammu and Ankush Jasrotia and Sonika of Surya College of Education won first, second and third prizes. In Solo dance, Rohit Manhas of Kathua Campus won first prize whereas Amita of Guru Teg Bahadur and Sonika of Surya College of Education got second and third prize respectively. Rajiv Gandhi College of Education won the first prize in Group Dance while Lal Bahadur Shastri College of Education and Kathua Campus bagged second and third prize respectively.
A Combined Placement Brochure 2015 of MBA and MCA at Kathua Campus was also released on the occasion. The events were independently judged by the various experts in the respective fields. The judges for the 2nd day activities included Vijay Atri, Bindiya Tikoo and Rakesh Kumar.
