JAMMU, July 12: Association of Industries, Gangyal, Jammu has expressed its dismay at the non-serious attitude of the Government in finalizing the continuation of incentives for local industry.
“Whereas the Government spent a lot of energy in adopting and introduction of GST regime in the State, there appears to have given little attention in finalizing the modality and quantum of incentives to be given to industry”, AoI members said in a meeting held here today.
They said, “In the entire interactions held with representatives of industry repeated assurances were given that all existing incentives will be continued in the GST regime. It was expected that simultaneous notifications would be issued on the date GST is introduced which has not been done till date”.
The Government has been found wanting and its inaction is resulting in heavy losses to industry, the AoI members said, adding, this has resulted in the entire industrial sector coming to a grinding halt, as units cannot issue sale invoices for want of modality and quantum of incentives to be incorporated.
They said that daily representations are being made to the Government but so far there is no response. “It seems that the Government is sitting with deaf ears towards industrial sector and not realizing the plight/miseries, difficulties and problems of industrialists”, the unit holders said.
AoI stated that most of the industrial units are closed and others on the verge of closure and will lead to layoffs and retrenchment of lakhs of labour resulting in huge investment in the projects taken from banks will be under stressed because of fault of Govt.
“The Government must take immediate action and finalize the much promised incentives to industry otherwise industrialist will be forced to come on roads along with labour and there will be a big unrest in this peaceful region of the State”, the members said.
Amongst others present in the meeting were Abhinandan Singh Sachdev, SB Abrol, Vijay Sharma, Sanjeev Vig, BB Talwar, RP Sethi, Rattan Dogra, Bipin Sharma, Subash Aggarwal, Rajinder Gupta, Ravnish Gulati and Pankaj Jain.
