SRINAGAR, June 12: Health & Family Welfare Minister of Andhra Pradesh (AP), Dr. D.L.Ravindra Reddy, who is on three-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir, today called on Minister for Health, Sham Lal Sharma and Minister for Medical Education, R.S.Chib and discussed issues relating to the healthcare sector.
During the interaction, the trio exchanged the ideas of healthcare in both the States and steps taken to improve the health services. Both the Ministers apprised the visiting Minister about the initiatives taken by the Jammu and Kashmir to improve the health services, especially at the primary and secondary level.
Dr. Reddy highly impressed by the steps taken by the State Government in the health sector while revealing his experience after visiting a number of health institutions in the Valley said that he was astonished to see excellent services at the primary and secondary level institutions.
Meanwhile, in his brief chat with the media persons, the visiting Minister said that on the instructions of Union Minister for Health & Family Welfare, Ghulam Nabi Azad, he visited the Jammu and Kashmir to see the model of State Government in healthcare as the State was adjudged best in the country in primary healthcare and it is also better in mother-infant mortality rate as compared to other parts of the country.
Dr. Reddy said that he will suggest his counter-parts in other States to visit Jammu and Kashmir and study the functioning of the health institutions and adopt the same measures in their States.
