Apathy towards border people

Sir,
The Sunday Magazine article ‘Caught in crossfire’ DE Sep 8 has very well highlighted the plight of border people who have bosne the brunt of Indo-Pak hostility since 1947. These people have been living constantly amid blazing guns and Government apathy. The firing has affected their normal course of living. Affected by these developments, the people have been living either in trenches or have shifted to their relatives at other locations.
The shelling has affected agricultural activities as people cannot attend field or send their children to schools.
Besides, there is an urgent need to provide immediate relief to the people to overcome the losses and to pay expenses for treatment of the injured. This is also brought into the notice of the Government functionaries that Veterinarians be deputed to this area for the treatment of the injured bovines. People can’t bear the additional expenses. The Government must constitute a committee which may take into account the problems faced by the people here.
Yours etc…
