Sir,
This is to highlight the apathy of the State Government towards protection of historical monuments in various parts of Jammu and Kashmir. As per the date of Department of Archives, Archaeology and Museums there are total 51 State protected monuments in the form of rock sculptures, rock carving, ancient sites, forts, tombs and temples. And for their proper conservation, the department requires funds to the tune of Rs 10 crore, but, strangely the department gets only one crore from the State Government. This shows the callous attitude of the State Government to save the cultural heritage of the State and especially that of Jammu region. One fails to comprehend what is the rationale of declaring State protected monuments policy when there is no sufficient funds for the maintenance of the same.
The Panthers Party would start a movement against such in justice by PDP-BJP by not allocating sufficient funds for these monuments.
Yours etc…
