APC delegation calls on Union Minister

JAMMU, Feb 19:A delegation of Anantnag Prabandhak Committee (APC) led by its general secretary, B K Wantoo called on Union Minister , Food Processing Industries, Pashupati Kumar Paras in presence of Sanjay Saraf president JK UT, Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) here and submitted memorandum highlighting the problems of displaced Pandits in general and those of Anantnag town in particular to him.
The delegation demanded payment of rent for the Anantnag Nagbal premises where the CRPF and BSF is putting up since 1990. The delegation informed the Minister that all the 29 rooms and a hall in the Nagbal shrine complex is under the possession of security forces with the result the community people who visit their native town for performance of annual Anatchuterdashi function and Maha Yagya or any other religious function do not get any space for accommodation.
The delegation said the security forces pay rent to all other private as well as buildings belonging to religious organization which are under their possession, except the Anantnag Prabandhak Committee. It said moreover while PM package employees face shortage of Government accommodation in Kashmir and majority of them are forced to live in private accommodations at the risk of their lives and the space available Nagbal Anantnag could be used for accommodation of some of these employees posted in Anantnag area.
The delegation said that the Committee’s regular requests for partial vacation of premises has not been paid any heed so far. The delegation made it clear that the community is not averse to staying of security forces there but demand handing over of some portion to the community so that the same could be used by it also. This will pave way for gradual resettlement / rehabilitation of original inhabitants back to Valley, the delegation added.
The Minister assured the delegation that the issue will be taken up by him with concerned Ministry.
