JAMMU, Sept 23: All Parties Migrants Coordination Committee (APMCC) has taken a strong exception to the recent interview of Lieutenant Governor (LG) of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha and alleged that an incorrect and misleading data has been given about Kashmiri Pandits (KPs) rehabilitation, accommodation, employment etc. The party has asked the LG to either take his words back or act strongly against those bureaucrats who have misled him about the real situation.
In a statement issued here, today Vinod Pandit chairman, Advocate Arun Kandroo, general secretary and national spokesperson, APMCC, King C Bharati have said that it was unfortunate that some senior bureaucrats have fed completely incorrect, wrong and misleading data to LG about the KPs and have expressed deep resentment over what they called insult of Kashmiri Pandits as a nationalist and peace loving community.
The APMCC leaders, said that, “After the biggest exodus of people since India’s partition, almost half a million Kashmiri Pandits were hounded out from their homes and hearths in 90’s. The GOI has acknowledged it as genocide. The Union Ministry of Home Affairs had stated that around 62,000/- KP families have been displaced since 1989-90,. Now LG had stated in a recent interview with Aaj Tak that everything was honky-dory with the community and connected PM’s Employment Package announced in 2008 by the then Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh as return and rehabilitation process and attributed it to the current Government announced in 2015 which is totally incorrect and misleading’’, they added.
Even after 12 years since its announcement only approx 4000 youths have been appointed and State Government has added the SRO 412 which is draconian and exploitative in nature. The employees can’t get transferred outside Valley and can’t leave Valley under any circumstances, they said.
They said the first batch of employees joined in December 2010. Since then only around 15% employees were provided accommodation and rest are living on rentals. The state of KPs right now is that some are still languishing in camps like Jagti, Nagrota etc. Some are living in pathetic conditions in Delhi NCR and elsewhere in country without any support of Government and have developed chronic diseases. With each passing day, the KPs are losing faith in successive Governments and they are waiting anxiously for a day to go back to Valley which their homeland.
