JAMMU, Jan 11: Senior vice president of Apni Party and former minister, Ghulam Hassan Mir today said that his party has become the voice of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
Addressing a meeting of South Constituency of Jammu here today Mir said, ” Apni Party is against wrong policies of the Government, which are against the people especially women and youth. To oppose such policies, we came out to protest such decisions that had impacted the life of people.”
He recalled the issues faced by the people in Jammu and said Apni Party leaders came out to raise the public issues by becoming public voice. Appreciating the Apni Party leadership, he said that the Party should expand roots to remaining areas and increase the public outreach. Party workers should speak to the people and educate them about the policy and agenda of the Apni Party, besides discussing public issues, he added.
Referring to the ending of Panchayats, Municipalities, BDCs tenures in J&K, Mir stated that the people have been left to the mercy of bureaucracy and appealed for the restoration of democratic system so that the public issues can be resolved. He said the Party wants equitable development, employment and protection of resources for the local population.
Mir asked the Party cadre to intensify their public contact program at every nook and corner, especially, in the wake of upcoming Parliamentary elections.
Provincial president, Manjit Singh referred to the welfare schemes of the Party and said that same would be implemented if the Party forms the Government. He said old age/widow pension will be enhanced up to Rs 5000, four cooking gas cylinders will be provided free of cost to the poor families under Ujjawala, marriage assistance will be enhanced to Rs 1 lakh and public will get big relief in power bills.
The meeting was organized by Provincial president, Women Wing for Jammu, Pavneet Kour. Senior leaders Faqir Nath, Ajaz Kazmi and Vipul Bali were also present on the occasion.
