SRINAGAR, Jan 12: Expressing disappointment and displeasure over the continuous stranding of truck drivers along Srinagar-Jammu national highway, Apni Party Provincial Vice President (Kashmir), Jagmohan Singh Raina today demanded a Committee to look into the problems being faced by these drivers at different locations on the highway.
In a statement, Raina claimed that these drivers are facing numerous problems and the administration has miserably failed to come to their rescue.
He said the problems are more with the drivers who are stuck in different snow bound areas of Kashmir valley along the highway.
“The administration should wake up from the slumber and take necessary steps that would bring relief to these people. It is the duty of the administration to provide succour to the people facing difficulties on regular basis,” Raina maintained.
The Apni Party leader demanded proper food and shelter for the stranded drivers stuck between Qazigund-Jawahar tunnel and Ramsu-Batote stretches on the highway.
He said, since there is no toilet facility available for such people, the administration should put in place mobile toilets so that these drivers don’t face further problems.
