Jammu, June 4: Opposing ban on parking of vehicles in Residency road, Jammu, Apni Party (JKAP), senior leader, Vikram Malhotra today appealed the civil administration to arrange alternative parking place while reviewing their decision since restriction has become stumbling block in routine business of shopkeepers.
“The civil administration should address concerns shown by the businessmen of Residency road where parking of vehicles are not being allowed leading to the suffering of the shopkeepers,” said Malhotra, in a press statement.
The J&K Apni Party, senior leader alleged that “The businessmen of the market were not intimated regarding the decision taken by the administration. The parked vehicles were lifted and it has created problems for the trader as well as for customers who have no other alternative parking place.”
During the ongoing lockdown, Malhotra said that “The markets have less crowded and there was no need to ban parking in Residency Road area which is 60 ft. People are already facing problem in parking of vehicles. It has further added to the suffering of the people.” The administration should not impose restrictions on the parking of vehicles on wide roads in Jammu.
Malhotra said that “There is resentment among the traders against the decision taken by the administration. The administration should provide an alternative parking place for Residency road shopkeepers and customers i.e. DPS School and JKTDC.”
Malhotra demanded that the administration must roll back their decision to ban parking citing order of the Ministry of Home Affairs as COVID measures.
“If the shopkeepers and customers are not allowed to park their vehicles opposite to their shops there is no point of opening shops because customers will not be able to visit the markets,” Malhotra, quoting grievances of the shopkeepers, said.
The traders should be allowed to park load carriers outside their shops for loading and unloading of goods, he demanded.
