SAMBA, Feb 16: Apni Party Provincial President, Jammu, and former Minister, S Manjit Singh has said that the Apni Party wants to make Jammu and Kashmir economically strong.
Addressing an active workers meeting at Pangdour, the former minister said that Jammu and Kashmir has huge deposits of natural resources and power generation capacity yet the erstwhile State has been suffering economically.
“We have enough resources, but the administration has failed to use these resources to strengthen the economic growth of Jammu and Kashmir,” he said and stressed for the economic independence of Jammu and Kashmir to revamp developmental activities impartially in both the regions and provide equitable developmental opportunities.
“The regional aspirations regarding development, upgradation of road infrastructure, improvement in health and education sectors is possible when we have a strong economy. The dependence on the Central Govt for everything is not suitable for long term sustainable development for J&K as well as the country,” he said.
Manjit Singh alleged that the administration has failed to help the unemployed youth to become self-employed although the Govt has many schemes to bring new startups and become employers. “The awareness among the people is not being made because of disconnect between the administration and the people in J&K,” he said and demanded that the public issues should be addressed and work on strengthening the economy can be possible when there is an elected Govt in place.
He said that the people are in distress with the unfruitful work of the administration by carrying out anti-encroachment drives and displacing people across J&K without any motive.
“These things have added to the feeling that the administration is not meant for public welfare. Hence, the Assembly elections should be held as early as possible and statehood should be restored,” he added.
Earlier, Manjit Singh listened to the public issues which were raised by the Apni Party leaders and workers during the meeting.
District President Samba, Legal Cell Adv Sahil Bharti, Ex-Sarpanch Darshan Singh, Ex Capt Triath Singh, Surjeet Singh among others were present on the occasion.
