Srinagar, Nov 10: Apple growers in South Kashmir have sought the extension of Satellite Fruit Mandi at Pachaar in Pulwama district.
The merchants said that the Mandi was established in 2010 over 5 kanals of land and only a single shed was constructed. “We have a lone shed here and space shortage. We construct temporary sheds for three months. Now we are facing shortage of space severely,” said an apple merchant, Mayasar Ahmad Seh.
Seh said the high quality apples from upper belts of Pulwama, Kulgam and Budgam are placed and sold in the Mandi but due to shortage of space they are facing severe difficulties. “We appeal Government to extend the Mandi and construct more sheds,” he said.
