RIYADH, Sep 8: The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) will on Monday hold separate ministerial meetings with Russia, India, and Brazil on the sidelines of its 161st Ministerial Council, a report said.
Chaired by Qatari Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, the GCC meeting will be attended by GCC foreign ministers at the Secretariat General’s headquarters here on Monday.
The seventh GCC-Russia strategic dialogue ministerial meeting will be held with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, the GCC-India meeting will be held with Indian External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, and the GCC-Brazil meeting with Brazilian Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira, the Saudi Press Agency said.
In a press release, GCC Secretary General Jasem Albudaiwi said the GCC Ministerial Council will discuss reports regarding the implementation of decisions taken by the GCC Supreme Council during the 44th Summit held in Doha in December 2023.
The council will also review memoranda and reports submitted by the ministerial and technical committees and the General Secretariat, as well as topics related to dialogue and strategic relations between the GCC countries and various countries and global blocs. The council will also address the latest regional and international developments in the region.
Albudaiwi said that the meetings with the Russian, Indian, and Brazilian delegations reflect the GCC countries’ commitment to exploring and opening new horizons for cooperation.
These meetings, he said, aim to strengthen strategic relations with countries and organizations worldwide.
Topics that concern all sides and yield benefits for their peoples will be discussed at these meetings, Albudaiwi said, the statement said.
The GCC is a regional, intergovernmental, political, and economic union comprising Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. The council’s main headquarters is located in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia. (UNI )
