JAMMU, Apr 5: The Minority Department of J&K Congress Committee has demanded appointment of Central Minority Commission coordinator in the J&K UT.
In a meeting of the Minority Department/ Cell held here under the leadership of S Gurdarshan Singh- vice chairman, various issues of public concern were discussed in detail.
The meeting demanded appointment of Central Minority Commission coordinator in JK UT in order to ensure benefit of central schemes including scholarships to the students and many other welfare schemes for minorities in Jammu and Kashmir.
Members also demanded inclusion of Punjab language as official languages in Jammu and Kashmir.
Gurdarshan Singh appealed to people of minority community in JK UT to come forward and join the Congress which is the only party who fights for the rights of the minorities.
The meeting was also attended by Michael Wazir- Coordinator J&K UT, Baldev Singh, Jagjit Singh Rimple, Gurmeet Singh, BJS Kamra, Amrik Singh, Balvinder Singh, Jagjeet Singh, Salinder Singh, Paramjeet Singh, Harvinder Singh, Manpreet Singh and others.
