JAMMU, Sept 10: Working Chairman of J&K National Panthers Party and MLA Ram Nagar, Harshdev Singh has strongly criticized the Education Department for its failure to issue appointment orders of the candidates selected by SSRB in various districts of Jammu region.
In a press statement issued here today, Mr Singh alleged that despite chronic deficiency of teachers in many Government schools in the rural and remote areas, the School Education Department has failed to make appointments of the candidates selected as teachers by the Board. Charging the Education Department with utter bias and prejudice in the matter of appointment of teachers, Mr Singh claimed that while the said department had already made appointments of teachers in Ganderbal and other districts of Kashmir, it has failed to make appointment in many districts of Jammu region.
Alleging major breakdown of educational set up in the State, the NPP leader said that educational activity had become casualty of bureaucratic red tape and discriminatory policies of the Government. Mr Singh pointed out that thousands of schools in the region were facing shortage of staff and studies of the children are being affected. He said over 13000 posts of teachers were lying vacant at Elementary level, 8104 in Upper Primary and 4916 vacancies in Primary schools as per PAB meet held in Delhi in June 2011. He said over all 40 % shortage of staff was there in Government Schools.
