APS Rakhmuthi pays tribute to Major DS Pannu

JAMMU, Sept 9: Army Public School Rakhmuthi celebrated birth anniversary of its beloved School Hero, Major Devinderjit Singh Pannu, a valiant soldier from the 5 Sikh Regiment, who made the ultimate sacrifice during a crucial battle for the Defense of Chhamb on December 5, 1971.
Colonel N.J.S. Pannu (Retd.), the brother of the school’s hero and the Chairman of APS Rakhmuthi commenced the programme by paying tribute to Major DS Pannu. Following this solemn moment, the students of the school showcased their talents in a cultural extravaganza. Their mesmerizing patriotic dances and songs captivated the audience, receiving thunderous applause.
Colonel N.J.S. Pannu (Retd.) awarded scholarships of Rs 10,000 each to four outstanding students of the 2022-23 academic session. Esha Bhau excelled in class XI A (Science Stream), Nittin Kumar in class XI B (Commerce Stream), Khushi Devi in class XI C (Humanities), and Tamanna Singh in class X A, demonstrating exceptional achievements in academics and other fields. Shaswati Ghosh, Principal of APS Rakhmuthi, expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the distinguished guests, dedicated teachers, and talented students.
