Armed Forces Flag Day on Dec 7

JAMMU, Dec 3: Like every year, Armed Forces Flag Day will be celebrated on December 7 to remind the sacrifices made by Armed Force and also to express solidarity with the Armed Forces.
“A number of welfare schemes have been launched by the Centre and State Government to look after martyrs, their widows, non-pensioners, ex-servicemen and their families. Donations from the general public are a major source of Flag Day Fund”, said Director Rajya Sainik Board, Brig (Retd) Harcharan Singh.
He informed that HDFC Flag Day Fund is utilized to run various welfare schemes and contributions made in “Flag Day Fund” are also exempted from Income Tax under section 80-G (5). In addition to financial assistance, public also contributes in so many other ways to look after our Armed Forces personnel and hence, express their solidarity, he added.
He stated that HDFC Bank Deputy Vice President, Sachin Mahajan has come forward with a helping hand to assist Rajya Sainik Board (J&K) in smooth collection of donations for the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund and also to help issue Income Tax Exemption certificates. He also said that RSB J&K operates under the able guidance of the Governor of J&K and a formal drive will be started from December 7, with an appeal to donate generously for the Flag Day Fund.
HDFC Bank has also made arrangements to ensure reconciliation of accounts. Any one desirous to contribute for the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund can deposit the donations in HDFC Bank A/c No 50100101654533. Branch Manager or Personal Banker Authorizer of HDFC bank should be contacted to get a special ‘deposit slip’ so that subsequently, through a courier service, Income Tax Exemption Certificates can be forwarded by the bank. Anuj Mahana (9596776660) is the coordinator nominated by HDFC Bank, to coordinate bank customer services, related to the Flag Day Fund. Helps of public and various organizations are solicited for volunteer donations in the Flag Day Fund.
