Armed Forces ready for any kind of challenge: Arun Jaitley

NEW DELHI : Defence Minister Arun Jaitley today said Indian armed forces are ready for any challenge and the alleged fund shortage is not an issue in the way of defence preparedness.
Making an intervention in the debate on Vote for Grants for the Ministry of Defence in the Lok Sabha, Mr Jaitley said in the past two and half years since the NDA regime took over, as many as 147 contracts have been completed. This entire process involved an expenditure of Rs 2,957.66 crore.
“And there have been procurement of key defence equipment including rockets, radars and missiles,” he said adding that these acquisitions will help meet “critical requirement” for defence preparedness.
“Our forces are ready for any kind of challenge,” he said.
The Minister also dispelled Opposition members’ contention that the Make in India programme has been a failure and added that there are many defence armaments which are being developed indigeneously.
