RAMBAN, May 3: IRP 9th Battalion of the Jammu and Kashmir Armed Police today conducted a series of events under Civic Action Programme at Batote.
The events were organized under the supervision of Senior Superintendent of Police Abrar Chowdhary Commandant IRP 9th Battalion. Children and students from various schools including High School Dharmund, Upper Middle School Dharmund, Middle School Rakhjeorj and Primary School Minal participated in the events.
A large number of stationery items procured by the police under Civil Action Programme were distributed among the students.
Principal of Government Higher Secondary School Batote Jagjeet Singh was the chief guest and the Zonal Education Officer Batote Lekh Raj Goswami was the guest of honour.
On the occasion, Superintendent of Police Surjeet Bhagat of IRP 9th Battalion spoke at length about the ills of drug and its frequent usage among the youth. He stressed upon the students and the participants to say no to the drugs at all costs and save future generations from this menace.
The chief guest highlighted role of police in the society and appreciated the efforts of police in facilitating the education of poor children by providing them the necessary study materials and stationeries. He urged upon the police administration to continue such programmes in future as well for the welfare of the general public.
Speaking on the occasion, Abrar Chowdhary Commandant IRP 9th Battalion stressed for having no gaps between the police and the public. He urged the participants for having an atmosphere in which the police and the public work and co-operate in tandem. He also stressed upon the participants and the students to maintain harmony and co-exist peacefully so that designs of the anti-national and anti-social elements are defeated.
Dy Commandant Amit Bhasin, Dy Commandant Surjeet Bhagat, Zonal Education Officers Batote and officials of revenue, education and police department were also present on the occasion.
