Arms, explosives haul in Kishtwar

JAMMU, Nov 6: Police and Army today destroyed two major hideouts of the militants and recovered a large quantity of arms, ammunition and explosive devices in Kishtwar district.
Official sources said a joint team of Kishtwar police, 8 and 11 Rashtriya Rifles conducted search operations and destroyed two militant hideouts at Dhanandhar Thakrai and Channishri forests in Kishtwar district.
Recoveries made from the two hideouts include one Pika gun with 50 rounds, one AK-47 rifle with two magazines and 212 rounds, 27 hand grenades, 15 UBGL rounds, three live RPG shells, one box of Pika belt, two Pika belts, one IED circuit, one Hizbul Mujahideen letter pad and a Motorola radio set.
The seizure had the potential of causing large scale casualties and damage to life and property, sources said, adding that police and Army had thwarted evil designs of the militants by effecting the timely recoveries.
