JAMMU, Sept 2: Troops of Rashtriya Rifles and police in a joint operation today busted a hideout of the militants in upper reaches of Navapachi in Kishtwar district and recovered arms, ammunition and explosive material.
On a tip off, troops of Rashtriya Rifles from Bhandarkut and Kishtwar police conducted searches in upper reaches of Navapachi and detected the consignment of arms and ammunition, which had reportedly been dumped by the militants in the forests to pick up them at an opportune time, official reports said.
The consignment reportedly belonged to Hizbul Mujahideen outfit, sources said, adding that recoveries made from the hideout included one sniper rifle, bolt action with magazine, one telescopic sight, 17 rounds of assorted ammunition, two Chinese grenades and two radio sets.
The consignment had been well concealed in the hideout, reports said.
“The recovery of arms was possible due to sharing of intelligence inputs and launching of well coordinated and synergized joint operation despite the fact that the consignment had been hidden in harsh terrain,” official sources said.
