JAMMU, Apr 7: Army and police today busted a militant hideout in Ramban district and recovered a cache of arms, explosives and ammunition.
The Rashtriya Rifles troops of Counter Insurgency Force Delta based at Dharmund along with Special Operations Group personnel and Banihal police of Ramban district launched a joint operation in Kaskoot forests of Banihal on receiving specific information of a militant hideout, official sources said.
A Pika rifle, an AK 56 rifle with five magazines, 553 AK-47 ammunition, two UBGL and Chinese grenades, two radio sets, one RPG, three binoculars and other war materials were recovered from the hideout, they said.
“Recovery of such a large cache was possible due to relentless efforts of both Rashtriya Rifles and police”, sources said.
This recovery has further improved the overall security situation in the region, they said, adding, the General Officer Commanding, Delta Force congratulated the troops for success of the operation.
Police party in the operation was supervised by SSP Ramban Randeep Kumar.
