JAMMU, June 11: Army and police today recovered a large quantity of arms, ammunition and explosives from Leeran Wali forest area near Dera-Ki-Gali (DKG) under the jurisdiction of Thanna Mandi police station in Rajouri district.
Official sources said a joint team of 38 Rashtriya Rifles and police conducted search operation in Leeran Wali forests after developing specific information about dump of arms and ammunition lying in the forests. They made the recoveries this evening after day long search operation.
Recoveries made from the forests included one AK-47 rifle with two magazines, 115 rounds of 762mm, one Chinese pistol with one magazine and four rounds, four Chinese grenades and four UBGL grenades.
Some of the explosive material was destroyed on the spot.
Army and police conducted searches in the forests after making the recoveries. However, no arrests were made from the spot.
Police have registered a case in the recoveries under FIR No. 93/2016 under Sections 120-B, 121, 122 RPC and 3/27 Arms Act for further investigations.
