JAMMU, Jan 5: Former Minister and NCP State president Thakur Randhir Singh has said that more casualties in Pathankot terror attack could have been avoided had the nearby Army unit immediately mobilized for taking over the airfield replacing different security corps there, instead of waiting for NSG commandos.
While recalling the role of Army in 2005 terror attack at Ghati tehsil in district Kathua, when an army brigade was moved from Mamoon Cantt to eliminate six terrorists, who had entered into the Ghati village and killed two locals, Mr Singh sought to know that if an Independent Army brigade from Mamoon, (Pathankot) could reach in village Ghati in 2005 than why not the Army, located at Pathankot in a great strength, was used against the militants who entered in the airbase ?
“People of the country want to know in this regard from Modi Government,” he said and strongly criticized the Centre for its failure to keep a check on nefarious designs of terrorists, who sneak into this side from Pakistan.
Further, he added, what a sad state of affairs that Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Prime Minister Narendra Modi are greeting each other saying let us promote friendly ties, but at the same time Pakistan is sending deadly terrorists and killing our brave soldiers.
