Army assures security to Panchs

SRINAGAR, Jan 16:
As the resignation by Sarpanchs and Panchs continued in the Kashmir valley after the death of a Panch and attack on a woman representative, the Army has assured security to them.
All possible assistance will be provided to local youth in getting recruitment in the Army, GOC 15 Corps Lt General Om Parkash said.
A defence ministry spokesman said here this afternoon that Lt Gen Parkash interacted with the Panchs, Sarpanchs, Gujjar leaders and the prominent people at Aishmuqam and Prisal in south Kashmir district of Anantnag.
He assured them of Army’s continued support towards the uplift of the local Awam and assured the Panchs and Sarpanchs that increased domination of their villages will be carried out by the Army along with the local police for ensuring their security.
The General also informed the village elders that all possible facilities will be provided to local youth to assist them in recruitment in the Army.
He also interacted with children and parents of Army Goodwill Schools and informed them that efforts were underway to upgrade the schools further for providing better educational facilities to the children. (UNI)
