Jammu, Apr 24: The Army Chief, Gen Bikram Singh today complimented the National Award Winner Shib Narayan Acharya, Photographic Officer and Officiating Defence Public Relations Officer at Jammu Garrison.
Mr Acharya had recently won the National Award for his photographs clicked on the environmental theme titled “Green India – Environmental Stories” in professional category. The 2nd National Photo Award was organised by Photo Division of Ministry of I&B, Govt of India and it was open for all photojournalists and serious photographers across the country.
Two photographs which had portrayed the Northern Army Command’s green initiatives in World’s Highest Battle Field – Siachen Glacier and cultivation at World’s second coldest inhabited place – Drass-Mushko valley, won the award and brought laurels for Indian Army and Directorate of Public Relations of MoD for the first time winning the National Photo Award.
The Army Chief was presented the award winning framed photographs by the ace photo officer in the presence of Maj Gen Ashwini Kumar, GOC Tiger Division before this departure to New Delhi.
The Chief also applauded the yeomen services of the officiating Defence PRO Jammu, Mr Acharya towards projection of positive images of the troops deployed in Northern Command through his photo journalism and mass media. The Chief also assured all out support for his forthcoming photo feature projects on the activities of troops in Jammu & Kashmir.
