Army Chief pays farewell visit to Northern Command

JAMMU, May 23: Army Chief General V K Singh today paid a farewell visit to Northern Command headquarters in Udhampur and discussed the security situation with top officials.
Gen Singh, who is retiring on May 31, was briefed by GOC-in-C Northern Command, Lt Gen K T Parnaik on security issues in the Valley, a Defence spokesman said.
Addressing the officers of Northern Command, the Army Chief, who was accompanied by his wife Bharti Singh, appreciated the selfless sacrifices made by troops of the Command in ensuring the sanctity of the country’s frontiers and in facilitating return of normalcy in Jammu and Kashmir.
He exhorted all ranks to uphold the core values of the Indian Army through dedication towards duty.
During the visit, the Army chief’s wife, who is the president of Family Welfare Organisation (FWO), interacted with the families of Northern Command officials and Regional President of FWO, Anagha Parnaik.
