Army chief reviews security, operational preparedness of troops in Kashmir

Srinagar, Apr 8: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Upendra Dwivedi today reviewed the security situation and operational preparedness of troops in Kashmir and along the Line of Control (LoC) with Pakistan.

During his visit, the Chinar Corps Commander Lieutenant General Prashant Srivastava gave the Army chief a comprehensive briefing on the latest developments and ongoing operations in Jammu and Kashmir. He also held detailed discussions with senior formation commanders, focusing on current and emerging security challenges, force preparedness, and inter-agency coordination.
The Army chief was given a detailed briefing about the Army’s preparedness in hinterland and along the LoC to counter militancy and infiltration. He was also briefed about the army’s role in maintaining peace in the region.
During his visit, the Army chief toured forward posts along the LoC in Keran sector of North Kashmir to directly evaluate the ground situation. He was accompanied by Northern Army Commander Lt General M V Suchindra Kumar, Chinar Corps Commander Lieutenant General Prashant Srivastava and General Officer Commanding 28 DIV Major General K Mohan Nair.
The Army chief interacted with troops deployed in these high-altitude, operationally sensitive areas and commended them for their exceptional dedication, professionalism, and resilience under challenging conditions.
He was given a detailed account of the preparedness of the troops along the LoC to counter the infiltration from Pakistan. The Army chief was also given a detailed account of the desperate attempts by militants to infiltrate into Kashmir and the Army’s preparedness to counter it. He was told that the Army has foiled many infiltration attempts in the region and are alert to foil such attempts in future.
General Dwivedi emphasised the critical importance of integrating advanced technology into operational planning and execution. He also urged troops to maintain a high level of alertness to counter existing and emerging threats in the region.
The visit underscores the Army’s continued commitment to maintaining peak operational readiness and enhancing its capability to respond swiftly and effectively to any security challenge. The Indian Army remains vigilant and proactive amid the evolving security dynamics in Jammu and Kashmir, with regular engagements by senior leadership to strengthen morale, coordination, and operational synergy.
