Army Chief reviews security situation

JAMMU : Chief of Army Staff Gen Bikram Singh today reviewed an overall security situation of the State at a meeting in Northern Command in Udhampur district.
Gen Bikram Singh today arrived at Udhampur Northern Command and reviewed the security situation in a high level meeting, official spokesman in a statement issued here said.
He said that due to the bad weather, the Army Chief landed at Jammu technical airport and reached Udhampur by  road.
During his short visit, the Army Chief had an interaction with Lt Gen KT Parnaik, GOC-in-C Northern Command and other senior hierarchy, the spokesman said.
He said that Gen Singh was apprised of the current security situation and the operational preparedness in the Northern Command as well as the complex dynamics of the proxy war situation in the State.
The spokesman further said that General Bikram Singh has immense experience of the operational dynamics in the State as he has commanded a Battalion, a Brigade, a Division and a Corps in the State.
The Chief however, exhorted senior commanders to further consolidate on their gains in counter insurgency operations achieved during the past two years.
He left the station in the evening, the spokesman added. (AGENCIES)
