Meeting to begin in physical mode today

JAMMU, Mar 31: The Army Commanders’ conference in physical mode will start tomorrow in New Delhi with a series of issues on agenda including situation in Eastern Ladakh along Line of Actual Control (LAC) with China, Line of Control (LoC) with Pakistan and hinterland in J&K besides several policy decisions.

There has been no major confrontation between Sino-Indian troops on the LAC with China in Eastern Ladakh for past couple of months but standoff persisted and will complete four years shortly. There has been no major headway in further de-escalation.
As far as situation on the LoC with Pakistan in Jammu and Kashmir is concerned, it is peaceful with no major ceasefire violations reported but Pakistan can attempt to push infiltrators ahead of Parliamentary elections for which the troops are maintaining high alert.
Sources said security situation in Kashmir valley and twin border districts of Rajouri and Poonch could also figure in the conference.
Northern Command chief Lt Gen MV Suchindra Kumar and Western Command head Lt Gen MK Katiyar will also attend the meeting. The Northern Command looks after the Eastern Ladakh as well as LoC with Pakistan in Jammu and Kashmir while the Western Command has control over Jammu, Samba and Kathua districts which share the International Border with Pakistan, manned by the Border Security Force.
The conference was held on hybrid mode on March 28 and will be held in physical mode on April 1 and 2. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will address the conference on April 2.
“Discussions will also focus on conceptual issues, key priorities, and facilitating important policy decisions to chart the future direction,’’ the sources said.
Army’s top leadership will also engage in intensive brainstorming sessions with focus on operational effectiveness, fostering a culture of innovation and adaptability
The event will also be addressed by the Chief of Defence Staff, General Anil Chauhan, the Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral R Hari Kumar, and the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari. The Defence Secretary and other senior officials from the Ministry of Defence will also attend the conference.
The Army Commanders’ Conference, with its wide scope, ensures that the Indian Army remains progressive, forward-looking, adaptive, and future-ready, addressing critical issues related to operational readiness, welfare, and national security.
