JAMMU, Mar 22: In a unique initiative, Territorial Army Battalion under the Romeo Force, conducted an enrollment ceremony for young recruits who have been enrolled in Territorial Army after a stringent recruitment process, today at Palma.
Only 101 candidates were finally selected out of over 16,000 who participated in the recruitment rally. One of the recruit is a post graduate and three are graduates while others are undergraduates.
In a brief but impressive ceremony, the young recruits gave a glimpse of their potential and talent. Major General Yogendra Dimri, Counter Insurgency Force (Romeo) was the chief guest on the occasion. He lauded the efforts of the young recruits who had put in their heart & soul in making the ceremony an impressive affair and also congratulated the proud parents and village elders who attended the function.
Meanwhile, 159 Infantry Battalion (Territorial Army/Home & Hearth) DOGRA, under ‘Delta Force’, resumed the recruitment rally being conducted for four Districts Udhampur, Kishtwar, Ramban and Doda to recruit local youth for General Duty and from entire state of J&K except District Samba and Kathua for tradesman and clerks.
The rally had been conducted for districts Udhampur and Kishtwar on March 15 and 16 but had to be postponed after two days owing to heavy rain and water logging of the venue, Sports Stadium, Doda. Today, the rally was conducted for district Ramban for the age group of 18 to 42 years.
A total of 1225 candidates appeared for recruitment on Mar 22, 2016. 1150 candidates were selected for ground events after initial screening of documents. Out of these 76 candidates cleared the ground events and became eligible for the next recruitment stage/process.
March 23 has been fixed for youth of district Doda (Bhaderwah & Doda Tehsils only) while March 25 will be the turn of district Doda (Tehsils Gandoh, Thathri) and all remaining Tehsils except Bhaderwah and Doda Tehsils.
