Srinagar, May 18: Army today conducted an interactive session with the people of Lachhipora village of Uri in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district that was presided over by GOC Infantry Division, Major General J S Nain.
A defence spokesman said the General Officer interacted with local populace of the area including ‘Veer Naries, ex-servicemen and prominent locals of the village.
“The function was an initiative of Chinar Corps and has been appreciated by locals as it provides a platform to address the socio-economic problem of the people in the remote area. The Army renewed its commitment of being present to help the people in any manner possible,” he said.
The defence spokesman said that civilians during the session brought out various problems being faced in the region. ”All the problems were duly heard by the GOC and assurance was given to do everything possible for the development of the region,” he said.
He praised local civil administration for their whole hearted efforts in bringing various development projects in the region and also assured the gathering that both civil administration and Army are working together in bringing peace and prosperity to Lachhipora.
“The conduct of such interactive sessions will go a long way in reducing the socio economic problem of the people of Kashmir and strengthening the bond between people and Army in Kashmir. The function concluded with felicitation of Veer Naris, ex-servicemen and prominent personalities of the area,” the defence spokesman added.
