Army conducts workshop for border women

POONCH, June 8: The 12-day long  ‘Soft Toy Making Workshop’ for the unemployed women of Ajote and Kosaliyan village of the District, which started on May 27, 2013, concluded here today.
The event was conducted by Army in collaboration with Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development.  The workshop was a step towards the noble cause of women empowerment in the backward areas near Line of Control.
Thirty-four women including few school drop out girls were benefited during the workshop.  The workshop is a certified course which enables the skilled women to start their own commercial production of Soft Toy to earn their livelihood and making them self dependent.
On the concluding today, chief guest Bimla Acharya, First Lady of Poonch Brigade, handed over certificates to all women participants in the presence of prominent civil and military dignitaries.
Speaking on the occasion, chief guest said that it has always been endeavor of the Army to make women of the country self dependent.  She also brought out that the certificates will make them eligible to avail loan facility from any nationalized bank on soft terms.
