Army dedicates Anganwari centre

Srinagar, May 22: Army today said it dedicated an Anganwari Centre to people at Lidru village of Pahalgam in south Kashmir in an effort to empower rural women of Kashmir and making a meaningful contribution towards their welfare and self sustenance.
A defence spokesman said this centre comprises a traditional stitching cum knitting and embroidery hub. “Here, the women of the underprivileged sections of the village would be imparted training in the use of modern stitching cum embroidery machines, knitting.
This way they would get engaged in a sustainable livelihood and become self reliant as the finished products prepared by these women would be sold in the open market and the income generated would be distributed amongst them,” said the spokesman.
