Army deploys over 3500 more jawans, 500 para commandos

JAMMU, July 20: The Army has deployed 3500-4000 soldiers in the Jammu region to hunt down the terrorists in the jungles of different districts where they are reportedly hiding by converting natural caves as the hideouts.

Besides this, around 500 Special para commandos have also been deployed in the vulnerable areas where the terrorists are suspected to be hiding, the sources said.
A number of bullet-proof vehicles too have been pressed into service.
As already reported, 37 Quick Reaction Teams (QRTs) were moved to different areas of the region.
Additional troops are being adjusted in the hilly areas where the foreign terrorists are suspected to be hiding in the forests. The troops along with paramilitary forces and police will carry out surprise coordinated operations to eliminate the terrorists.
The Special Forces para commandos will undertake operations based on pin-pointed information besides the places where encounters break out.
Deployment of more troops will help in elimination of terrorists in the region, the officials said.
